General Research
Visitors are always welcome at our Else M. Kelly research facility. Volunteers can introduce you to the available resources and assist you in getting started with your research. There is no charge for this introduction or for the use of any of our computers or the collections. If copies are printed on our machines there is a charge of 20 cents per side for black and white copies and 75 cents per side for color copies. Printing charges for members are reduced. Bring a thumb drive along if you wish to avoid making copies.
If you are unable to visit in person, a volunteer may be able to help.
When submitting a request, please ensure that your request includes enough information to answer these three questions:
- WHO: Who do you want to know about? We will need names including maiden names of married women.
- WHEN: When / where were they born and when did they die? If you don't know exact dates, an estimate helps. Our records cover from the mid 1800s to recent times - so we need to narrow things to at least a decade or two.
- WHERE: Were they born or married or did they die in Gladwin County?
Documents that the volunteers locate will be sent via electronic format (via email).
If you prefer to have copies mailed please remember to provide your contact information (addresses & phone number).
We will notify you of all costs for items, copies and postage, if applicable. All donations go directly to the financial support of the Gladwin County Genealogical Society Inc.
